Snippets from my week

For a couple of years now my daughter Amanda has been the only avid reader amongst our kids. Kenny's reading has improved greatly, but he just didn't seem to want to pick up books and read. I think that may be changing as I've come upon a scene like the picture below several times lately. Not only was he reading, but aloud to others so more people could enjoy the story. LOVE it! :)

We also discovered a bird's nest in a tree out front. The kids think it's pretty neat!

We have a robin's nest outside our kitchen window... but it's up just a little too high and esp. with the leaves coming out, I'm not able to see it as well, just that the mama bird is sitting there :)

It's great he's getting into reading - & looks like he has some engrossed listeners there!
That tree looks so beautiful - I love the spring blossoms!

That's so fun when they want to read. Chandler is just turning that corner too. We just found the Encyclopedia Brown books - very fun. :)

I'm so happy for you to have another reader. Bedtime just got a lot more fun for everybody:)

I just ordered a reading program called Rocket Phonics in which I'm going to attempt to teach at least two of the kids to read at the same time through games. I'll let you know how it goes.

my oldest doesn't show any desire to get lost in a book. bums me out. so this reading to others idea is a great one!

That really is a sweet picture, Laura. I can't wait till my older ones start reading to their younger brothers and sisters.

(By the way, This is Some Assembly Required. New blog. Now let's see if I can really write on it.)

Wow, what kind of bird do you have in that nest? It must be BIG, as that is a substantial nest.
